What’s safer guiding training?
Safer guiding is our safeguarding training and will help you to:
- Understand your role in safeguarding and what to do.
- Learn about our approach to health and safety and your responsibilities.
- Find out all about data protection and what you need to do.
- Include everyone.
For anyone volunteering with girls
If you have any contact with girls you’ll need to do the safer guiding course. This has 4 topics and replaces a safe space levels 1, 2 and 3.

- Association walking scheme trainers or assessors.
- Commissioners.
- Chief guide team.
- Coordinator (specialism dependent).
- DofE assessors.
- DofE supervisors.
- Helpers (all).
- Individual support unit helpers.
- Individual volunteer supporters.
- Leaders (assistant leader, leader in training, supporting leader).
- Mentors (going away with, leader development programme).
- Peer educators (18+).
- Section advisers.
- A safe space lead volunteers.
- Safe practice liaison volunteers.
- Safeguarding lead volunteers.
- Trainers.
- Trainer qualification tutors.
- Training reviewers.
Once bookings are confirmed, any cancelations or no shows will ensure a £5 fee. Please ensure that you have completed your first response e-learning before attending.
